I had a really strange experience today while traveling from Varanasi to Patna. Some transgenders or eunuchs came into the coach and started asking people for money, which is the usual practice. Suddenly, one of them came and sat beside me while I was busy watching a documentary and asked for money. I denied, and suddenly he started abusing me. One of them even tried to touch my genitals. I was shocked by this behavior and have been thinking about what happened since then.
Why is male dignity such an ignored thing here? What if the same thing happened to a female or if another male tried something with a female? It would definitely be a big deal, but why is it not taken seriously when it happens to men? Do men traveling in the sleeper class of Indian Railways have no right to personal dignity?
As a student, I feel like I cannot file a complaint and waste my precious time in court. I just want to know what other people feel about this issue. This is not a new case; it’s common in railways and often goes unnoticed. What are your views on this topic, gentlemen? #GenderEquality #RespectDignity
