I feel like I have depression

I feel like I have depression.
I wish I had the freedom to seek therapy but I don’t think my parents are for it.
I’m always down and I barely ever talk to my friends and even if I do it’s mainly about them.
I don’t know what to do or how I should change the state I’m in. I can’t take this anymore.

  1. I have never been to this site. Ever. The first post I read is yours.

    I too struggle with depression and anxiety. Compounding the issue, is that I am a Christian and we are not supposed to be depressed.

    Then I started reading Psalms. You know who was depressed too? David. Read Psalm 69. It starts off with:
    Save me, O God!
    The water is up to my neck;
    2 I am sinking in deep mud,
    and there is no solid ground;
    I am out in deep water,
    and the waves are about to drown me.
    3 I am worn out from calling for help,
    and my throat is aching.
    I have strained my eyes,
    looking for your help.

    So yeah, I am saying that God can comfort you. In fact Jesus said that after he left, he would send us the comforter. You can ask him into your heart now for that comfort. I will pray for you.

  2. talk to your parents, exercise is the best therapy, would recommend taking any sports as hobby
